Looking for Production Crew for Kiss Me Kate....

Hello there world....

So I am privileged to direct Kiss Me Kate for the Barrow this June....and it is a privilege to direct. How many people get to bring a show to life on a fantastic stage, with a fantastic group of people who end up being both on and off stage for a production.

The production of Kiss Me Kate is looking for interested people for Music Director, Accompanist, Costumes, Set Dressing and a Stage Manager.

The Music Director is responsible for preparing the cast to perform the musical numbers; running music rehearsals, teaching the musical numbers to the cast, teaching vocal parts, fine-tuning the vocals, and then usually conducting the pit orchestra for the show.

The accompanist accompanies the music rehearsals, the show run rehearsals, and the acutal performances in the pit.

Costume Designer is in charge of pulling from our warehouse stock, organizing, and fitting costume in consultation with the director. They also organize the seamstresses for any costumes that need to be made.

Set Dresser is responsible for working with the Props person to fill the set with props, photos, paintings, objects, furniture etc from our production warehouse and other sources.

Stage Manager is the right-hand man/woman of the Director-attends rehearsals and records all stage directions, blocking and movement. Responsible for running the show and calling the cues/set changes during the performances of the show.

Timeline: Rehearsals will begin approximately April 23-the show runs June 19-20 and 26-28. Rehearsals will be held Sun-Thur in general in the evenings....early on music rehearsals are held on their own and interspersed with the staging rehearsals....the schedule is flexible as we bring crew on board prior to auditions April 18 and 19.

Anyone intersted in working on the production can contact me via email at tedsmith.patio@gmail.com

Thanks,
Ted Smith, Director

Kiss Me Kate scheduled for June 2009

Franklin Civic Operetta's production of Kiss Me Kate is scheduled to perform June 19 & 20, and 26-28 at the Barrow-Civic Theatre, downtown Franklin PA.

The egotistical performer Fred Graham is reunited with his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi in the leading roles of Petruchio and Kate in Taming of the Shrew. Throughout the show they fight and obviously still love each other. Meanwhile, due to mistaken identity, two gangsters harass Fred. Also, two former cabaret performers cast in Taming of the Shrew, Lois Lane and Bill Calhoun struggle to keep their romance alive.

Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter, written by Bella and Sam Spewack. Part for 19 principle/cameo roles, plus song and dance chorus....

Produced with special permission of Tams Witmark Music Library (http://www.tamswitmark.com/musicals/kissmekate.html) - Click for show synopsis, history and more information.

AUDITIONS TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON.
